Come with me to design mecca.
For graphic designers, a wine label project is right up there as one of the holy grails of design. This is when we can really let go, and let the creativity flow.
We belong to a local group of amateur wine makers which presented the perfect opportunity to flex some creative muscle.
I turned to our dog, Jack—a unique blend of dachshund and bird dog which we call a "Vox Weinerstein"—for inspiration and picked the name, “Sagging Dog” for our label. The logo came easily, with a swirly, callilgraphic version of the pooch. But it was the other elements of our label that had to age a bit before the latest version, right.
Since the first label design, top left, I have struggled not to stray too far into comic but still have fun. This year, I added a textured background and a new font to change up the label. The “arf” bark quote keeps some subtle fun in the design.
As you have guessed, I am a passionate dog person. The illustrations I used to build the animations in this site come from "Ron and Joe," http://www.ronandjoe.com/contents.html#, two guys who love dogs, are hysterically funny and produce great work.
